ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Each year, billions of dollars are lost to Medicare due to error, fraud, and abuse.

If you have ever had questions about Medicare, now is your chance to get the answers.

Albany City Commissioner Jon Howard is holding a Medicare town hall Saturday to discuss the importance of understanding the Medicare process and how to identify error and abuse.

Howard explains that scammers target seniors over the phone and ask for their Medicare information.

He warns people that the office who deals with Medicare will never call and ask for your information, they only contact you through the mail.

"The do's and the don'ts of what you should do and should not do, and most of all just be aware and alert when scam artists call or someone come to your door," said Howard.

The town hall begins at 10 a.m. and will be held at the East Albany Community Center which is located at 1721 East Oglethorpe Blvd.
