14 area basketball teams are taking to the hardwood this weekend for the 2018 Trojan league.
One of the schools playing in the 3-day league in Leesburg is Americus-Sumter High School.
The panthers are coming off a 25-win season.
This is the second weekend of play in June which is the hottest period for organized high school basketball work.
It's an important summer for Americus as they are having a changing of the guard with 3 starters from last season graduated.
"We've got to get our new guys in to get game experience and work since we've pretty much been leaning on the leadership of the seniors from last year," said Michael Hoffpauir who is entering his 5th season leading the Panthers.
"So a lot of guys have got to step into new roles. It's a big transition, but it's very important."
Trojan league 2018 continues through Friday and Saturday.
Games are being played at Lee County High School, the 9th grade campus and the elementary school.
