COFFEE CO., GA (WALB) - Four people are facing charges after Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit agents said a man swallowed meth while being combative with officers.
The Coffee County Sheriff's Office said agents had been surveilling a home on East Jackson Street on Monday as part of an operation.
During the operation, DCDU agents saw David Salyers, 26, leave the home.
When they tried to make contact with Salyers because he was a person of interest in a theft case, officers said he became combative and swallowed about 3.5 grams of meth.
Salyers was taken to the hospital and is facing charges of felony obstruction, tampering with evidence and theft by receiving stolen property.
Agents then obtained a search warrant for the house and made three additional arrests.
Donnie Johns was arrested on outstanding municipal bench warrants.
Richard Jewell was jailed on probation and parole warrants.
And Sallie Kendall was charged with obstruction.
