TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College will take over operation of the Tift Theater in downtown Tifton starting July 1.

The college partnered with the City of Tifton after the theater's previous managers left. ABAC will now be managing the theater.

Wayne Jones the Director of Arts Connection at ABAC, says they expect to see an increase in events at the theater now.

"Because there will be more than one person working at this, we'll be able to increase the number of rentals that we're able to handle here at the Tift, and of course the city will benefit from this because the vast majority of rental fees will go to the city," said Jones.

Tift Theater will begin to host events under the new management starting this summer, with a theater camp for kids.
