Police investigate after 17-year-old shot in hand

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A 17-year old was shot in the hand Wednesday evening at an Albany hotel.

According to police, it was an accidental shooting that happened when the teen was removing the clip, made a mistake and shot himself in the right hand. 

The 17-year-old was taken to the hospital by EMS.

Police said there were two other people in the room.

Officials with the Albany Police Department said it happened in the 2700 block of Pointe North Boulevard just after 5 p.m.

The investigation has been turned over to APD's Investigation Bureau.
