VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - With school officially out and summer rapidly approaching, the city of Valdosta is working to give your kids extra spaces and places to have fun in the sun.
The Valdosta-Lowndes Parks and Recreation Authority held a ribbon-cutting Wednesday morning at Vallotton Park.
It is a brand new playground that's done just in time for the warm weather.
The playground was in great need of an update and the city's Public Works Department joined forces with the city to break down the old playground to make room for the new.
"What we like is for our kids to be active, you gotta get out. It's okay to be inside with your computers and all, but you know what, the bodies are made to move," said Councilwoman Sandra Tooley.
The playground was funded by SPLOST and Valdosta officials said they want to continue providing kids with the best and safest equipment to enjoy their time outdoors.
