The Colorado Rockies selected Lee County native Nick Bush with in the 8th round of the Major League Baseball draft Tuesday.
Bush just wrapped up his redshirt sophomore campaign at LSU and just so happened to already have a Rockies cap. He told WAFB he's been a fan of the team.
"I was really excited I was very pumped because I wasn't expecting it, and then it just kind of came out of nowhere and I got it.," Bush told WAFB.
"I feel like I improve a little bit better than last year. I think I did a little bit better this year jumping up my stock."
He appeared in 24 games in a relief role striking out 42 batters in 47 1/3 innings.
His stint in Baton Rouge got off to a rough start when he sat out 2016 with a medical redshirt following Tommy John surgery.
Before college the Lee County High School was a 2015 Perfect Game and Under Armour All-American.
Bush was the 246th overall selection in the draft.
