SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) - Residents have been looking forward to Sylvester's new city hall since construction started back in April.
Officials said construction has been smooth sailing so far.
The city itself is funding the remodel.
Crews have been focusing on the inside of the building and will work their way out.
City officials said they wanted the building to have an "old with the new vibe."
Main Street Manager Karen Singletary said the foundation of the building will be upgraded as well.
"New wiring, new water pipes and things like that, but as much of the original state that we can possibly do," said Singletary.
Singletary said the community is looking forward to the building maintaining its historic look.
Officials do plan to preserve some of the walls and doors in the former building.
Construction has been on schedule since its start in April.
The target date for completion is April 2019.
