LEESBURG, GA (WALB) - Police began searching for suspects Friday after nearly 10 reports of cars being rummaged through or broken into in Leesburg overnight.
Nine different police reports show some cash, an X-Box, headphones and a car charger were taken from 10 cars.
It all happened inside Indian Oaks Subdivision off Peach Avenue and Woodstone Apartments off Highway 32 in Leesburg.
Those reports show at least four of the cars were left unlocked.
Some of the victims called police, and officers found a few other cars that had been rummaged through.
Elizabeth Poulson lives in Indian Oaks. She said things like this make her more alert.
"You have a small yard here in this neighborhood. You have to feel like you're protecting everything all the time," Poulson explained. "You see things on the news, on TV, on Facebook things like that, it kind of scares you a little bit."
In the reports, one victim told police she saw someone trying to break into her car by pulling the door handle.
Police said this is a reminder of the importance of locking your cars at all times and not leaving anything of value inside.
