DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) - The Dougherty County School System police are investigating an armed robbery that has many people in the Albany community upset.

The robbery last week targeted an organization of high school students donating money to civic causes.

The robbery happened after a presentation at the Walter Judge Academy on Cason Street. The 2018 Beautillion Club was donating nearly $14,000 to organizations in Southwest Georgia.

According to Dougherty County School System Police, a woman at the presentation was robbed at gunpoint by a masked gunman while walking to her car.

She told police $900 was stolen from her purse.

The woman told police from the sound of the suspect's voice, she believed the gunman was a teenager.

Police are also investigating a car that was broken into at the Academy.
