VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

In a Thursday morning news conference, The Valdosta Police Department released the identity of a woman whose body was found in a vacant house on Westwood Drive this week.

VPD Chief Brian Childress said she was identified as Billie Joann Boyd, 42, who was reported missing last Wednesday, May 23.

The medical examiner said there were no obvious signs of foul play on her body, which is undergoing an autopsy.

"At this point, it appears there is no evidence that this woman was the victim of foul play but we are waiting on toxicology before we can definitely conclude the final cause of death. Our hearts go out to the family of the victim who have been notified," said Chief Childress."

"Based off information that we have now, she ran in the direction of that vacant home. Now we think, key word is think, that the door was unlocked, she went inside there, locked the door for whatever reason."

WALB's Damon Arnold will more details on this story later today.
