Residents and landowners met Wednesday to discuss their next steps and potential legal action against the city of Thomasville.
They claim the council illegally conspired to pass the road expansion project for South Pinetree Boulevard, and they want to take their concerns to the Georgia attorney general.
Here are some of the quotes from community members, who spoke out forcefully against the expansion of Pinetree Boulevard.
"I was completely disappointed with what transpired at the last meeting."
"Our forefathers said that we would be a land of laws, yet I'm sure what transpired at the last meeting was illegal."
"If you want to drive families out of the community, go ahead and add three lanes."
This all came after the unexpected three to two vote that passed the expansion of Pinetree Boulevard. No community members at that this point have spoken in favor of the expansion.
According to our partners at the Thomasville Times-Enterprise, some homeowners and opposed community members hired an Albany law firm to submit open records request of all phone calls and emails between council members, the mayor and mayor Pro-Tem, related to the Pinetree Project so far this year.
