VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - A Florida Police officer is in jail accused of threatening to kill a Lowndes County woman in a 'sextortion' case.
Officials from Volusia County Sheriff's Office in Florida said Joshua David Fancher, 25, was arrested Tuesday afternoon at the Orange City Police Department where he worked.
Fancher became an Orange City police officer in December last year.
But on Tuesday he was arrested on a Georgia warrant charging him with making terroristic threats.
Officials with the Volusia County Sheriff's Office in Florida say the messages from Fancher started over Instagram.
The victim explained to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office she was getting threatening messages from an unknown person demanding nude photos from her.
Officials said Fancher is accused of threatening to kill the victim and her 5-year-old brother, and also threatening to rape the victim's sister.
Fancher resigned Tuesday from the Orange City Police Department in Florida.
He is being held without bond at a Volusia County Jail.
