Edison woman guilty of killing baby daughter

EDISON, GA (WALB) -

A woman has been convicted of the murder of her 7-week-old daughter after she was found unresponsive three years ago.

Breanna Middleton was convicted of Voluntary Manslaughter, for causing multiple blunt force injuries which resulted in baby Kamryn's death on June 3rd, 2015.

Chief Judge Kevin Chason deferred sentence until August pending a mental evaluation.

"No child deserves their life to be ended so early for no apparent reason," said District Attorney Joe Mulholland. "Regardless of the mental state of the defendant, we will seek the maximum punishment at sentencing."

Middleton, then 20, called Edison Police shortly after midnight, on June 3rd, told them her daughter, Kamryn, was unresponsive at her home on Tower Drive.

Officials say a preliminary scan showed bleeding on the brain. An autopsy was done the next morning, which found damage to Kamryn's brain.

Middleton was charged with family violence battery, cruelty to children in the first degree, cruelty to children in the third degree, felony murder, and malice murder.
