Man with machete taken into custody by Albany police

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A man armed with a machete was taken into custody by Albany police Monday night.

The Albany Police Department said it responded to a call around 8:30 p.m. on Monday after a man threatened a woman at a house in the 900 block of West 1st Avenue.

According to police, the man also set his jacket on fire, causing the house to fill with smoke. The Albany Fire Department was also on the scene.

APD said children were present but no injuries were reported.
