TERRELL CO., GA (WALB) - Terrell County's Tenisa Huckaby has been well known for tearing it up on the track, and now their excited to announce that she will be continuing her career, at the collegiate level.
Huckaby announced she will be heading to Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida.
Huckaby's track coach says she began running in ninth grade and won state her freshman year in the hurdles.
Since then she currently holds four records and won the 100M hurdles her senior year.
Southeastern University director of track and field, Nick Dodson, says of course she is a superb athlete, but it's her character that makes her so special.
"I build my programs around character and high energy. So, we feel she is going to bring that to the table. She comes from a small town. Shes won some championships here. Didn't have a lot of resources, but made the most of it. So, we are looking for student athletes who want to come in and work hard."
Dodson was hired to lead the Fire in their first ever season in the upcoming year.
