THOMAS CO., GA (WALB) - As the potential for heavy rains and isolated flooding increases, Thomas County emergency services have begun planning for a worse case scenario.
Thomas County leaders state that they are not expecting any threatening weather until around 10 a.m. on Monday, but they do have shelters on standby and will open the Emergency Operating Center around 6 a.m.
If you have yet to get prepared for the storm, you still have time to do so.
EMA Director Chris Jones says the more prepared community members are, the easier it will be for all parties involved if things take a turn for the worst.
"Especially we like to say if the community's prepared, we're better prepared because one of the things that we know for sure is, we still have an active 911 call log that goes on, on top of these events." says Chris Jones.
Picking up items like flashlights, batteries, water, medicine, and having an evacuation plan will not only assist first responders but yourself as well.
