Atlanta FBI agent dies after complications from 9/11 service

ATLANTA, GA (WALB) - The Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Atlanta Field Office died Saturday.

In a statement sent out by the agency, David J. LeValley died from exposure to contaminants from his work at the World Trade Center after 9/11.

LeValley began duty as a Special Agent with the FBI in 1996 in the New York Division.

He began at the Atlanta Division in 2016.

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the FBI Atlanta Field Office announces the Line of Duty Death of our Special Agent in Charge (SAC) David J. LeValley. SAC LeValley made the ultimate sacrifice on May 26, 2018.
