ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The American Red Cross is teaming up with South Georgia counties' emergency management agencies in preparation for severe weather.
The Red Cross reached out to 19 counties to find out what supplies they need in case of emergencies.
They have volunteers in the surrounding counties on standby now. They're getting food, water and equipment ready to go.
"We're in preparation, where if it winds up that this is going to be an event, we will be ready to go. We've positioned some of our supplies, we put our shelters on standby, which lets them know that we may need them," said Disaster Program Manager Sandi Cole with the American Red Cross.
The American Red Cross also has an app you can download on your phone.
The app will send you push alerts if weather becomes severe and it will let you know how to get in contact with the Red Cross if you need help.
