ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany residents are coming together to help with a nationwide campaign to end child poverty.
Walgreens stores throughout the country have sold red noses for $1.
The money goes directly to organizations that help with child poverty.
In Dougherty County, the funds go to United Way and The Boys & Girls Club.
Each year the Albany Police Department gets involved in promoting the event. On Thursday, officers were in the parking lot of the Walgreens on North Slappey Boulevard.
The Walgreens Shift Leader Rebecca Pedrero said it's great that the police department helps out with the event.
"There are a lot of poverty-stricken kids here in town. So they always come and help while having a bit of fun," said Pedrero.
