DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) -

The Dougherty County Commission is working on a new approach to present its recovery plan for Radium Springs and the people who live there.

The commission hosted an open house Wednesday in Putney to show its plans to rebuild the area.

The drawings at the Putney Community Center showed the recommended changes.

Like a new rural community center, centers for new industrial developments, job centers and redevelopment for new types of housing.

They also hope to upgrade residential building codes and standards.

"Going forward, there will be a roadmap we can implement over time, to bring this community back to its glory days," said Interim Dougherty County Administrator Michael McCoy.

County administrators will take the feedback and recommendations from residents who came to the open house Wednesday to the next commission meeting.
