ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Organizations, churches, and others across southwest Georgia now have summer feeding programs available.
While most students are happy to be out of school for the summer, some go hungry when they don't have two guaranteed meals that they would normally receive from their schools.
If you know a child that maybe hungry they can stop by the places below.
If transportation is an issue, The First Albany Deliverance Cathedral is delivering meals to McIntosh homes as well as Holly homes in Albany from 11-1pm.
The child, ages 0-18, just has to go to the community center.
The executive director, Andrea Revills, says this is a church outreach program called New Visions Community Development.
"We're happy to be able to do that so that we can #1 make an impact in our community as well as hopefully better the lives of families and children especially," Revills said.
After 10 years they decided to partner with the Albany Housing Authority to reach more than 600 children.
Faith Register is the site supervisor at McIntosh homes, she says it's not about pride or being embarrassed but about outreach.
"It's really making it where we're able to impact more children and a bigger part of the community at once," Register added.
Their free service runs from May 21 - July 31, with the exception of holidays.
