ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
The Deerfield-Windsor Lady Knights soccer team brought home the 2018 GISA state championship Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Knights took home the title with a 1 - 0 victory over Augusta Prep Saturday afternoon.
Deerfield has a total of 8 state appearances for both the boys and the girls but the Lady Knights brought home the first soccer state title in school history.
Senior Taylor Perron scored the winning goal to bring home the title to Albany, says that moment, is something she will remember for a lifetime.
"That one corner kick," said senior Taylor Perron, "that one touch that I just did, it was pretty amazing knowing that I did that. Becasue i'm not one that usually does that. So, knowing that I could change history i guess, was pretty cool."
Deerfield didn't allow a single goal in the playoffs and finished the season 15 - 2 and 2.
Lady Knights scored a total of 97 goals and only allowed 13 all season.
