It's time to celebrate something new, just in time for summer. The Parks at Chehaw continue to expand and are now wrapping up construction on their new splash pad.

It's been a long time coming, and we are glad to see this finally coming to fruition. It will be the new hot place to cool down.

It won't be just a River Front splash pad such as at the RiverQuarium.

Instead, this one will have water cannons, buckets, and other toys for kids to play with.

"This is something we have needed for a long time. People love coming out to the park to play and do all these outdoor things. When we hit July and August, it is really too hot to enjoy anything outdoors. Hopefully, this will keep families coming and enjoying the outdoors during that hot summer time," said Director of Community Engagement Morgan Burnette.

This $250,000 investment from SPLOST 7 funds is a real example of taxpayer dollars well spent; an investment that will help make Albany a better place for locals and visitors.

They still need donations to help finish up the project, and we hope local businesses will step up to help.

We applaud Chehaw for this addition, and we're excited about bringing our families there too.
