THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - The Thomasville City Council has taken the next step in finding a new city manager.

On Monday, city leaders voted to have Narloch and Associates of Tallahassee to search for a new city manager.

This is the first step the city has taken in five months to identify a city manager candidate.

The decision to hire an outside firm came from city leaders wanting to expand the search outside of the state.

Thomasville Mayor Greg Hobbs said they are looking for the best fit.

"We have a special interest in wanting to get the best person, who not only can do the job but wants to live in Thomasville. We want to make sure that the person who comes here has an interest in living in Thomasville because that person, we hope, will be around for at least 10 years," explained Hobbs.

Hobbs said when the firm gets down to roughly five candidates, city council members will then take part in the interview process.
