TIFTON, GA (WALB) - The Patticake House in Tifton is close to completing a new exam room for children.
Though it's a small room, the Pediatric SANE Room will make a big impact.
SANE stands for Sexual Assault Nurse Examination.
The room is to examine children who have been raped.
In the past, children who experience abuse had to go to Waycross or Worth County for the process.
Patticake House representatives said it was time-consuming and gave patients more trauma.
Once the room is built, children can be in a comfortable setting, in a familiar place.
The next step for the Patticake House is to contract certified SANE Nurses.
The room will be completed in June. It will include an exam table, two cameras and tools for the examination.
