DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) - One of Dougherty County's own has been awarded a prestigious honor.

Interim Dougherty County Administrator, Mike McCoy, was awarded the Administrative Manager of the Year.

The 2018 American Public Works Association under Georgia's chapter selected McCoy for this accolade.

Public Works Director, Larry Cook, and Assistant Director, Chuck Mathis, spoke highly of McCoy's leadership following the January 2017 storms.

McCoy says it was a competitive process, but now a phenomenal honor to have been selected.

"It was a privilege to serve in the leadership capacity after the storms," exclaimed McCoy, "And I am continuing to serve in a leadership capacity and working very, very hard on the community's behalf to get us through this recovery process along with the board."

McCoy will receive his award in July.
