DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) - Members of the Miracle League said that every child deserves the chance to play baseball.
They are trying to make that a reality with the Douglas Miracle Field.
Designed for children and adults with disabilities, the Miracle League aims to give those people the same opportunity as others.
In 2016, the conversation started on bringing the Miracle League to Douglas.
Since then, they have brought in thousands of dollars in donations from all over.
Parks and Recreations Director said he is happy to see the community lending a hand.
"Here in Parks and Recreations we see several kids that are disabled or have special needs and we where serving them but not in the capacity I think we should be serving them," said Stevie Young. "Giving them an opportunity to participate and be all-inclusive."
The goal is to reach $800,000.
They look to open next spring.
You can bring donations to the Parks and Recreations Building.
