VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - If you have not already, now is the time for you to take your cats and dogs to get neutered.
The city of Thomasville usually sees an influx of kittens and puppies around this time of year.
Over at Miss Kitty Feline Sanctuary, the director said it is around this time that they see a peak of animals in heat the begin to have litters.
"Spay and neuter is the basic answer to this problem, if you do not want to have 30 cats at your back door, you need to call us and see if we can help you," said Executive Director Carol Jones.
Not spaying or neutering your pet could leave untold numbers of newborns without basic survival needs and without proper shots to prevent the spreading of diseases like rabies.
Miss Kitty Feline Sanctuary has spayed an estimated 17,000 cats and dogs since its inception and encourages pet owners to look into options in their area.
