ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Marine Corps Logistics Base said photos taken of Marines at the base were used in a campaign ad, without the consent of those Marines or the Marine Corps.
Officials with MCLB said photos taken in January and February were used in a campaign ad by Representative Darrel Ealum.
According to MCLB, officials did not authorize the photos for any political or commercial use.
MCLB officials said they do not endorse any political candidate.
State Representative Darrel Ealum responded by saying the photo is public record, and it's actually on the House website.
"This is not a campaign photo. It doesn't say anything about elect Darrell Ealum or election day. It's informational. It's awesome. As a representative, I get to tell about the exciting things that I do to let the people know that I've done good things," said Ealum.
Ealum adds as a retired marine he is proud to make history and bringing top marines to the capitol.
"The colonel and general gave a phenomenal address to the entire House, it was historical. It's the first time a general or commanding officer has ever done that. So it was awesome. It was a wonderful experience. This is not a campaign photo. This does not say elect Darrel Ealum or anything about election day," said Ealum.
