VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - One organization in Brooks County is taking steps to help the veterans and their families move forward after going to war.

Kindle Lodge will be working with local churches and law enforcement to help create opportunities for veterans to receive help.

Veterans and their families will go on week-long retreats that consist of several stages of therapy that are research and faith-based. They will also hold day camps and one-on-one sessions.

"It's important for us to give them the love and attention that they deserve, we have to honor that service and we want to bring them back and remind them that they've done honorable things for our country," said President Reg McCutcheon. "They've helped create opportunity in our community and we need to welcome them back."

McCutcheon said that one in five veterans suffer from post traumatic stress disorder.

The organization is in the middle of redesigning its facility and plans to be fully operational by the end of June.
