VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

One South Georgia community is literally "sewing back" into its community.

For the second year, Pinwheels Quilting will be giving away four honor quilts to veterans and first responders to say thank you for their tireless work.

The organization is now accepting nominations from the community members and will draw names to select the winners.

People throughout the community have donated patriotic fabric and volunteers help sew the quilts free of charge.

"We're super grateful for everyone that risks their lives to keep us safe every day and it's one small way that we can try and give back," explained Representative Sasha Watson.

Quilts such as these can cost between $250 to $300.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, May 11.

To nominate your loved one, visit the Pinwheels Facebook page.
