ALBANY, GA (WALB) - More than $36,000 went to SOWEGA Council on Aging during a check presentation presented by Phoebe Volunteer Services on Friday.
The funds donated will help the Retired Senior Volunteer Programs which include the Ramp Builders Program and the Sewing Program.
Nearly 75 ramps are built at homes of disabled residents in the Ramp Builders Program.
Approximately 5,000 teddy bears are made in the Sewing Program and given to patients.
Phoebe has partnered with the Council on Aging to help support its efforts for the year.
"Not only is this a coordinated effort between the Council on Aging and their RSVP Program, which stands for Retired Senior Volunteer Program, but Phoebe does a lot to support it," said Phoebe's Director of Volunteer Services Suzanne Perrine.
This donation is done every year to keep the programs going.
Participants who volunteer for SOWEGA Council on Aging's programs are also volunteers with Phoebe.
