THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said it is working to finish projects in Augusta and Pooler.
Right now, a new crime lab is under construction in Pooler, doubling the size of the current lab in that county.
The GBI hopes to complete the project by 2020.
GBI director Vernon Keenan said this new $50 million project will help service parts of South Georgia.
"We expect at some point to have 5 medical examiners in that facility and the lab will double its capacity in staffing," said Keenan.
Construction is also underway on the $80 million Cybersecurity innovation center in Augusta.
Within this facility, the GBI will have a cybercrime investigative unit.
