THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Students across Thomas County are raising money for a good cause.

Each class collects spare change as part of the "Coins for Critters" fundraiser to help pets in need at the humane society.

Kelly Ellis' class at Harper Elementary celebrated Thursday after raising $171.

Bakari Green raised the most with a whopping 80 dollars in coins.

"Just that this is wonderful to get them involved and giving back is important, it's very important and especially to animals that cant help themselves," said Dr. Verna Wiggins.

"I wanted to help the pets in need that needs help and food and some people don't take care of the pets," said Green.

TC Federal Bank treated classes that raised the most money at participating schools to a pizza party.
