CAMILLA, GA (WALB) -

The family of a fallen South Georgia volunteer firefighter is trying to make a difference in four students' lives by furthering their education.

Matthew's Helping Hands is an organization in honor of 20-year-old Matthew Hillard who's life ended suddenly.

Next Friday, they are holding their annual dinner fundraiser at Diggity Dogs in Camilla.

From noon to seven, you can pick up a to-go plate or eat with them.

Funds raised will go toward providing four high school students with a $500 scholarship to further their education.

Funds will also go to assisting fallen firefighters families.

"They want to try to help those families because there's a bond with the firefighters that they take care of their own," said Debra Cox, a volunteer.

If you are in the Bainbridge or Cairo area and would like to pre-order plates for a company you can contact Diggity Dogs before Monday.
