CORDELE, GA (WALB) - Wednesday night at Lake Blackshear Resort's Cypress Grill, country rapper Colt Ford performed a benefit concert for the family of the late Georgia State Patrol Trooper Tyler Parker.

Parker was killed in a car crash in March.

Ford, from Athens, learned about Parker's death on the news and said he immediately felt the need to help.

Parker was honored before the concert, with his family in attendance.

Organizers said everyone was working together to make it a success for Parker's family.

"A lot of my staff has been involved with Tyler and his family. They grew up with them. We just felt like this was the perfect fit to get involved and bring everybody together for such a great cause," said Lake Blackshear Resort's Food and Beverage Director Salinda Barber.

Organizers say 100 percent of the money from the concert goes to Trooper Tyler Parker's family.

He is survived by his wife Christy and three-year-old daughter Savannah.
