THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Some Pinetree Boulevard residents say they are not in favor of turning the road into three lanes.

Nearly 60 people were in attendance for a listening session Monday night in Thomasville.

When polled, residents said they would either like to see Pinetree Boulevard as a widened two-lane road or leaving the road alone and having it resurfaced.

This all comes after more than a year of controversy over county and city rights to the road and the difference in opinion on the plan for improving it.

Council member Jay Flowers said community feedback is important.

"I think that's very telling. People were concerned about speed especially, and safety of the road as it is. All understand that if you widen the road, everybody believes that's going to make people go faster, so you're not going to really resolve the issues that people are most concerned about," said Flowers.

Flowers said the city staff plans to compile the data and present it to the council members. He hopes the council will review everything discussed at that meeting before voting.
