VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

The Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce is celebrating over 5,000 businesses this week in honor of National Small Business Week.

Ninety percent of businesses in Valdosta are small businesses, meaning they are made up of fewer than five hundred employees.

Businesses will be able to participate in different live webinars and conferences by Google, Visa and Chase Bank.

"This is a small business community, so National Small Business Week is just a way of saying thank you to all the people that have stepped out there. They're entrepreneurs in spirit and they've opened their business," said Chamber Spokesperson Betty Morgan.

Morgan stated that some of the benefits of being a small business community is businesses being able to remain operational during times of recession.

The chamber encourages anyone thinking about starting a business or has recently started a business, to reach out and find out ways to grow within the community.
