DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) - Early voting has begun!
And turnout was strong in Dougherty County.
Dougherty County's Election Supervisor, Ginger Nickerson, said the turnout was great for Day One of Early Voting.
90 people came through the Government Center and to cast their ballot in the primary election and nearly 700 absentee ballots were mailed out.
The office is optimistic about the upcoming weeks and hopes the 60,000 registered voters take advantage of early voting.
"So with three weeks and a Saturday and election day there's no reason for voters to not participate in this great process," said Nickerson.
Early voting continues Monday through Friday for the next three weeks at the Government Center in Albany.
The mandatory Saturday voting day will be Mother's Day weekend and voting officials are encouraging voters to bring their mom and make it a family affair.
