ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

This month, Chehaw Park started their seasonal zoo animal feeding program for the public, and the park had multiple alligator feeding sessions this weekend.

Guests were able to feed two dozen alligators with forty pounds of food throughout the weekend.

The alligators only eat during the months of April to October because of their digestive system.

Park rangers said this is important for the public to learn about the animals during these months.

"It's a great way to learn about conservation programs," said Ben Roberts, the director of animal care at Chehaw. " It gives the public a specific platform to ask questions from the people that are directly working with the animal."

Guest will not only be able to feed alligators, but also Rhinos, Camels, and meerkats during alternate weekends.
