ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany non-profit hosted a community block party Saturday, to give back to the community.
D.I.V.A.S, which stands for Demonstrating Individual Values Amongst Sisters, is a mentoring program.
The group aims to bridge the gap between local schools and the community, and Saturday's event was nothing short of that.
Organizers said this is a way to allow the community to see what the program has to offer.
"We do it every single year. It is our initiative to give back to the community. Our goal here at DIVAS mentoring program is to bridge the gap between the community and the schools located within the community. In an effort to do that, we set up tables, we partnered with other corporations and other non-profits, and we just gave back, simple as that," said the founder and executive director of DIVAS, Felecia Frayall.
110 people came out to support the event.
Saturday marks seven years that the organization has had the community block party.
