ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Men and women got a taste of what it's like to be in heels for an extended period of time.

Dozens of people participated in "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" Saturday morning at Deerfield Windsor School.

The march was intended to spread awareness about sexual violence and help put an end to it.

The Lily Pad organized the event.

There were over 100 women and men who completed a mile in heels, some higher than others.

Organizers said they are grateful for the communities support.

"With this event, we hope to raise some funding for the Lily Pad to help supplement the things that are necessary that grants don't pay for. This funding helps keep our doors open. This funding helps keep our doors open," said Mary Martinez-Allen, the executive director of Lily Pad Sane Inc.

This was the ninth year the event was held.

First and second place walkers got trophies.

There was also a contest for the hottest legs.
