ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany native Trent Thompson didn't end up being selected in the 2018 NFL draft, but he has a deal with an NFL team anyway.
Thompson agreed Saturday night to a deal with the Cleveland Browns, as a free agent, as reported by Pro Football Talk. There is also a Browns' logo on Thompson's Instagram page.
He joins Superstar tailback Nick Chubb, his teammate at UGA, who was drafted the first running back in the draft, by the Browns.
Thompson, a three-year University of Georgia defensive tackle chose to forgo his senior season and had a very ambiguous draft stock.
Draft grades ranged anywhere from 2nd to 5th round.
Thompson's three seasons at UGA came with a Liberty Bowl MVP, Rose Bowl victory and National Championship appearance.
He was billed as the No. 1 overall recruit coming out of Westover High School in 2014.
