ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Nearly 100 golfers have been enjoying today's sunshine, with hopes of helping cancer patients at Phoebe have a comfortable place to stay.

Friday golfers from all over South Georgia played in the Phoebe Foundation Golf Classic.

Money raised will go toward "Phoebe's Lighthouse," which was damaged during January 2017's storms.

Across the street from the E-R... the house is a place where oncology patients often stay during treatment.

"It just brings people together," said Eddie McBride, Phoebe Foundation's Annual Giving Manager. "It's a sense of community, a fun way to raise money. We are able to bring resources to the area, but the golfers are able to get out, enjoy themselves and have fun out on the course."

About 200 people attended a pre-tournament bash last night with a live auction.

Organizers said the event has been a great success.
