THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - When many visitors come to Thomasville, they love to stop by the beautiful rose garden.
The garden is located off Covington Avenue and is maintained by the city.
Public works has a five-man crew that works more than 40 hours a week to keep the garden looking as beautiful as ever.
They also service 40 other rose beds around town.
"Its a year-round thing, we trim them in the winter time, start fertilizing early spring, late winter, to make sure they are blooming this time of year for the Rose Show," said Stephen Stewart, Asst. Superintendent for public works.
In the garden you might notice that some bushes are planted in honor of different foundations such as breast cancer.
A portion of the proceeds from each plant goes straight to those organizations.
City staff invite you to stop by and smell the roses if you are in town!
