FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Bond was set for a man arrested Thursday morning after allegedly stealing a Coca-Cola truck and leading dozens of police on a chase from Hattiesburg into Petal.

The chase began around 8 a.m. after police received a call from the driver of a Coke truck saying his 18-wheeler was stolen from a gas station in Hattiesburg, according to HPD spokesman Ryan Moore.

Officers spotted the truck on U.S. Highway 49 and attempted to stop the driver, but the suspect continued to maneuver through traffic.

The chase then made its way onto the Evelyn Gandy Parkway, where Petal police and Forrest County Sheriff's deputies joined in.

The chase ended when the truck ran slightly off the road and into the median near the Chili's restaurant in Petal.

The driver, 32-year-old Chad Kendrick, was taken into custody, according to Moore. He is facing charges of grand larceny auto and eluding law officer/driving recklessly. His bond was set at $70,000 on Friday.
