Woman who stole from Georgia doctors pleads guilty

MACON, Ga. (AP) - A woman accused of embezzling thousands of dollars from Macon, Georgia-area doctors has pleaded guilty in the case.

The Telegraph reports 46-year-old Melissa Dyan Zediker entered the plea Monday to 49 counts of theft by taking and one count of forgery. The Bibb County District Attorney's office says she was sentenced to five years in prison, 25 more on probation and ordered to pay $711,881 in restitution.

Zediker was first arrested on fiduciary theft charges in mid-July 2015 on allegations that she stole $99,063 from OrthoGeorgia. She was accused of illegally depositing payroll funds earmarked with her mother's name into a bank account.

About two weeks later, Zediker was charged again for allegedly stealing nearly $70,000 from Urology Specialists of Georgia, a medical practice where she worked as an administrator.
