ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Homeless students in Dougherty County are thanking the school system for its continued support.
Currently, three seniors in the school system are on track to graduate and move forward to college. They told the school board Wednesday they are thankful for the support from everyone in the system.
One student has been accepted to Georgia State University, the other is looking to take his musical talents to Albany State University.
"What keeps me going is my family and the fact that I know my parents would still want what's best for me," said Jalen Power.
"No matter what trials and tribulations you go through in your life, you should always help others, you should always smile, you should never be mad because I am a true testimony of that," said Kirk Smith.
Homeless students have had success in the Dougherty County School System in the past.
On Wednesday the board learned two students are set to graduate from college this spring.
