ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany area chamber of commerce held a proclamation signing Tuesday.

Albany Mayor Dorothy Hubbard and the Dougherty County Commission Chairman Chris Cohilas declared April 30th to May 4 as Small Business Week.

The week is designed to highlight the importance and impact of the small businesses throughout the community.

Several small business owners attended the signing and said they are pleased with how the city is supporting them.

"It absolutely recognizes small businesses. It gives an opportunity for small business to feel valued, and to recognize all the efforts and the contributions they make to the economy, and to the community, in a whole, so it's really exciting for us to be recognized, and the honor for the mayor to sign the proclamation for us," said Tammy McCrary, a small business owner.

In addition to this proclamation, the chamber of commerce has many events planned for that week to celebrate small businesses.
